The kinds of names we hold

There is no public list here. If a name reached you in an email from Kiera, you already know which one it is; if you have a name in mind, ask and you will get a straight yes or no.

Six shapes of name

The trade [trade].com

One word for the work itself. The shortest and rarest kind, and usually the one a company prints largest.

Trade and place [place][trade].com

A service joined to a city, a county or a region of the Southwest. Useful to a firm whose customers all come from one area.

What the customer asks for [the job].com

The phrase people actually say when they call: the repair, the install, the appointment. It reads like the answer to their question.

The specialty [specialty].com

A narrower field inside a trade or a practice, for the company that is known for one thing and wants the name to say so.

The practice or clinic [field]clinic.com

Names shaped for care and appointments: a discipline plus clinic, care, center or group. Common with owners who plan more than one location.

The plural and the verb [trade]s.com

Forms that sit next to a name a company already uses and stop customers landing somewhere else by accident.

Price

Every name has its own figure

There is no rate card. What a name is worth depends on its length, how common the trade is, and how many companies could use it, so every price is set name by name and given to you in writing as one figure in US dollars.

The figure does not change because you asked twice or because someone else asked too. If it is not right for you this year, that is a perfectly good answer, and the name will usually still be here when it is.

What we leave alone

Names we do not hold

  • Anything that copies a company's registered mark or a close variation of it.
  • Misspellings of well-known brands.
  • Personal names of people we do not represent.

If you think a name in our hands conflicts with your mark, buying it is not the route; write to us with the details and we will look at it on its own terms.

Ask

Have a name in mind?

Type it in and add a line about your company. If we hold it, you get a price. If we do not, you get a quick answer saying so, and sometimes a note about a name close to it that we do hold.
